Natural pearls can be added to a necklace to form either a graduated or uniform style, though they almost always come in a graduated form. In a graduated necklace, the largest pearls are placed in the center with the smaller pearls tapering down toward the clasp. In a uniform necklace, the pearls are generally all the same size.
