How It Works
A single pearl is the beginning of a lifelong tradition. Here is how the Add-A-Pearl process unfolds — from her very first pearl to a treasured strand of memories.
Step 1
Choose your necklace.
Add-A-Pearl Necklaces are usually started with one, three, or more pearls on a chain. You can choose either a 14k yellow gold, 14k white gold or Sterling Silver chain.
Step 2
Personalize with a charm.
Add an engraved charm near the clasp to turn her necklace into a heartfelt keepsake. Choose from heart, oval, and tag shapes, and engrave a name, initials, or a short message such as "Love, Mom" or "Love, Grandma."
Charms can be added at the start or any time thereafter — a thoughtful way to mark the giver behind each pearl.
Step 3
Enhance with a fancy clasp.
You can choose to add a beautiful clasp to make the necklace extra special. All necklaces include a standard spring ring–jump ring clasp adorned with the Add-A-Pearl name. You may elect to upgrade your clasp at any time in the future.
Step 4
Receiving your necklace.
Every necklace will arrive in our signature Add-A-Pearl Necklace box, including a mini pocket folder for you to keep notes about your memories for which each pearl was given.
Step 5
Add pearls to an existing necklace.
Additional pearls can be purchased to mark the special occasions in your favorite girl's life. From her first birthday to becoming a beautiful bride, pearls can be added one at a time — or you may wish to collect several pearls to add in groupings at a later date.
Step 6
Choose your gifting option.
Every pearl order asks one simple question at checkout: ship the pearls to you, or hold them safely with us. Choose whichever fits the moment.

Ship the pearls to you.

Her pearls arrive in our signature Add-A-Pearl gift box, complete with instructions for sending the necklace and new pearls to us for stringing whenever she's ready.

Option B
Hold-Pearls
We hold them for you.
Choose this when you're sending the necklace directly to us.
Selecting Hold-Pearls lets us know we aren't shipping the pearls — you'll send the necklace straight to Add-A-Pearl for the addition. You may keep several orders on hold and combine them into one stringing.

Step 7
Sending your necklace to us.
When you're ready to have pearls added, enclose the Send-In Necklace Form with your necklace and ship it to our Chicago studio. The form tells us whose necklace we have, what's being added, and where to send it back — it's the most important piece of the process.
Once your necklace arrives, we'll string the additional pearls and perform a professional inspection and cleaning before returning her necklace looking radiant.
Step 8
Not sure what size or pearl type you need?
If you'd like to add pearls to a necklace but aren't sure what you need, simply send the necklace to us using the Send-In Necklace Form.
Once it's received, one of our pearl specialists will personally contact you to discuss your necklace and walk through your options for adding pearls — now and in the future.
Step 9
Completing her necklace.
Throughout the years, continue to add to her necklace as you celebrate the special moments in her life. At any time — whether you're adding the next pearl or completing the strand — our Add-A-Pearl specialists are here to help.
